" The Age of the Earth "

 

Luke 11:43-52  "Woe unto you, Pharisees ! for ye tithe mint and rue and all manner of herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of GOD: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Woe unto you, Pharisees ! for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greeting in the markets. Woe unto you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites ! for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them are not aware of them. Then answered one of the Lawyers, and said unto HIM, MASTER, thus saying THOU reproached us also. And HE said, Woe unto you also, ye Lawyers ! for ye laden men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. Woe unto you ! for ye build the sepulchers of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchers. Therefore also said the wisdom of GOD, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they shall slay and persecute: that the blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple: verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation. Woe unto you, Lawyers ! for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering in ye hindered."

     We are told that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old and that man did not arrive on the scene until about 300,000 years ago. According to this evolutionary timescale, man has been on this Earth for only a very short time. If this evolutionary age of the Earth were represented by a year, humans would have been living on it for only the final thirty-five minutes. If the supposed age of the Earth were represented by a road trip from New York to Los Angeles (about 2,800 miles), man would not arrive on the scene until the traveler is less than a thousand feet from his destination ! And yet JESUS CHRIST, the infallible, all-wise SON of GOD, told us very clearly that man was created at the beginning of Earth's history: "Have ye not read, that HE which made them at the beginning made them male and female?" (Matthew 19:4). This harmonizes with the Genesis account, which teaches that the Earth was made on day one of creation and man was made only five days later (Genesis 1). The LORD JESUS further established this fact in today's text: "That the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation; from the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zacharias" (vv.50-51a). In other words, soon after the world was founded, Abel was murdered, not thousands or millions of years later. If we are truly believers, should we not believe the Genesis record ? As believers in CHRIST, should we not believe what our LORD has said about the length of time men have been on this planet ? May we not be fooled by opposing arguments of what is falsely called science (1st.Timothy 6:20). GOD will never deceive HIS people. HIS WORD is truth (John 17:17 pictured above). GWZ
