2nd.Peter 3:8-18 "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the LORD as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The LORD is not slack concerning HIS promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the Day of the LORD will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the Earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the Day of GOD, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat ?
Nevertheless we, according to HIS promise, look for new heavens and a new Earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of HIM in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our LORD is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest [twist], as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. To HIM be glory both now and for ever. AMEN."
GOD commands us to "grow in grace." The verb grow is in the present tense, indicating that we are to keep on growing in grace and never stop growing. One of the ways we can grow in grace is to meditate on what GOD's WORD says about grace. May these verses sing to our heart:
"And of HIS fulness have all we received, and grace for grace [one wave of grace after another]. For the Law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by JESUS CHRIST" (John 1:16-17 pictured above).
"For ye know the grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, that, though HE was rich, yet for your sakes HE became poor, that ye through HIS poverty might be rich" (2nd.Corinthians 8:9).
"For the grace of GOD that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world" (Titus 2:11-12).
"That being justified by HIS grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life" (Titus 3:7).
"And GOD is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work . . . being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to GOD" (2nd.Corinthians 9:8,11).
"That in the ages to come HE might show the exceeding riches of HIS grace in HIS kindness toward us through CHRIST JESUS. For by graces are ye saved" (Ephesians 2:7-8a).
"But by the grace of GOD I am what I am: and HIS grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of GOD which was with me" (1st.Corinthians 15:10).
"The grace of our LORD JESUS CHRIST be with you all" (Revelation 22:21). GWZ
