1st.John 2:26-29 "These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. But the anointing which ye have received of HIM abides in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teaches you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in HIM. And now, little children, abide in HIM; that, when HE shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before HIM at HIS coming. If ye know that HE is righteous, ye know that every one that does righteousness is born of HIM."
The one who has been converted by the power of the Gospel is indwelt by the HOLY SPIRIT from the very moment of conversion. This believer is also sealed by the same SPIRIT "unto the day of redemption" (Ephesians 4:30). As a newborn babe, this new creature in CHRIST experiences spiritual growth through the study of the WORD (1st.Peter 2:2), and the HOLY SPIRIT plays an instrumental part as his TEACHER. What a blessing it is to have such a wonderful INSTRUCTOR WHO will not lead us astray.
However, having the indwelling HOLY SPIRIT as our divine TEACHER does not mean, as some mistakenly claim, that we have no need for Pastors, Teachers, and Evangelists. GOD uses spiritually qualified men to edify (build up) the body of CHRIST and to warn believers so they will not be blown about by "every wind of doctrine" (Ephesians 4:11-14). This is GOD's plan for this age. Godly expositors of the WORD will speak only the truth and all of the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), thereby fulfilling their GOD-given responsibilities. Such teaching will never contradict, nor add to, the WORD of truth that was originally entrusted to the apostles and prophets by the same SPIRIT WHO now teaches us today.
In many Christian circles, certain preachers, teachers, and even singers claim to be ministering under a "special anointing" of the HOLY SPIRIT. However, their words and actions contradict the truth as found in GOD's WORD. Remember, the teaching ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT will always lead the believer into "all truth," never into any contradiction of the truth. Test all words and actions by the WORD of GOD alone. MHR
