Psalm 119:129-130 "THY testimonies are wonderful: therefore does my soul keep them. The entrance of THY WORDs gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple."
The Bible says, "The entrance of THY WORDs gives light; it gives understanding unto the simple" (v.130). These beautiful words of our text, coupled with many other Scriptures throughout both the Old and New Testaments, remind us that, in this world of darkness, no light exists apart from the Bible, GOD's HOLY WORD - the truth. The words of Scripture constitute the "more sure word of prophecy" referred to in 2nd. Peter 1:19-21. Satan, the god of this world, knows it is through the light of the glorious Gospel message that people are saved and delivered from sin and darkness (2nd.Corinthians 4:4), so he does everything possible to keep them from hearing, understanding, and believing the truth. In this attempt, Satan and his messengers often disguise themselves as "angels of light" (2nd.Corinthians 11:14), the exact opposite of their true nature and mission. GOD's divine Standard is the only way to expose their treachery.
Truth enlightens; error blinds. truth is the opposite of error and always must be separated from it. Mixing truth and error together strengthens error and weakens truth, no matter how attractive the mixture may outwardly appear to be. Today, so many in Christendom preach a false gospel, offer a false christ, and teach false doctrines; they spuriously label compromise and apostasy as "renewal" and "revival." Once again, "truth is fallen in the streets" (Isaiah 59:14) when Satan succeeds at blinding the eyes of those who need to be enlightened. As believers, what is our responsibility and privilege in the dark days in which we live ? It is to proclaim the true Gospel and to tell those who still walk in darkness about JESUS, the TRUTH, "the LIGHT of the World" (John 8:12). MHR
