" What on Earth is GOD Doing ? "

 Daniel 4:34-35  "And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up mine eyes unto heaven, and mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most HIGH, and I praised and honored HIM that lives forever, WHOSE dominion is an everlasting dominion, and HIS kingdom is from generation to generation: and all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and HE does according to HIS will in the army of Heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay HIS hand, or say unto HIM, What are YOU doing ? "

     What on earth Is GOD Doing ? is the title of a book written years ago by the late Dr. Renald Showers, addressing Satan's conflict with GOD. In it, he deals with a number of significant questions: Do political leaders really decide the course of world affairs ? Does GOD really care ? Is there a divine plan for man ? This year, we have been immersed in a pandemic that has caused those questions to resurface. In the past, others have faced these questions or their equivalent. Think of Job under siege by Satan, Joseph in prison, Daniel in a den of lions, his three fiends in a fiery furnace, David being hunted by King Saul, Jeremiah in the miry pit, Paul confronted by the Sanhedrin, and John on the Isle of Patmos. By GOD's grace, each of these ordinary men in extraordinary circumstances not only endured but also triumphed victoriously.

 

     So, do world leaders decide the course of world affairs ? Does GOD really care ? Is there a divine plan for man ? Ask Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, and hear his reply in today's text after he had spent time living in the wilderness like a beast under GOD's judgment: "Mine understanding returned unto me, and I blessed the most HIGH, and I praised and honored HIM that lives forever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and HIS kingdom is from generation to generation: And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and HE does according to HIS will in the army of Heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay HIS hand, or say unto HIM, What are YOU doing ?" Dear Christian, our GOD has a plan and a purpose, and HE is in control - take heart ! Trust HIM ! HE will see us through this time of crisis. JED
