Acts 10:30-34 "And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of GOD. Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. Immediately therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore are we all here present before GOD, to hear all things that are commanded thee of GOD. Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that GOD is no respecter of persons:"
"I perceive that GOD is no respecter of persons" (v.34). The Apostle Peter uttered those words in the house of a Roman centurion who was seeking GOD. In that home, the LORD made clear the answer to a question that the Apostle Paul would eventually ask and answer: "Is HE the GOD of the Jews only ? is HE not also of the Gentiles ? Yes, of the Gentiles also" (Romans 3:29). In fact, Paul reproduced the same thought as Peter with nearly the same phrase, writing, "For there is no respect of persons with GOD" (Romans 2:11 pictured above). In regard to all distinctions of social rank or wealth or knowledge or ethnicity or race, etc., GOD is clearly "no respecter of persons." His message of truth, the offer of salvation, is available to all -- whosoever will, may come.
In the opening chapters of John's Gospel, JESUS demonstrated the availability of the Gospel message to all people. Two rugged fishermen, Peter and Andrew, became HIS disciples, as recorded in the first chapter (John 1:40-42). In chapter three, we have the account of a religious but self-righteous and lost Pharisee by the name of Nicodemus who came to JESUS by night and was told, "Ye must be born again" (John 3:7). We learn in chapter four that our LORD deliberately passed through Samaria in order to encounter a sinful, fallen woman at Jacob's well and to offer her "living water. . .a well of water springing up into everlasting life" (John 4:10, 14 pictured above). Also in chapter four, a nobleman (a royal person) appealed to JESUS on behalf of his dying son, "and the man believed" (John 4:49-53). GOD is no respecter of persons, and whosoever will, may come. Come now. No matter who you are or what you have done, HE will not turn you away. JED
