"The LORD Spake"

Exodus 6:10-13 "And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Go in, speak unto Pharoah King of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel go out of his land. And Moses spake before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened unto me; how then shall Pharoah hear me, who am of uncircumcised lips ? And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, and gave them a charge unto the children of Israel, and unto Pharoah King of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt."
The simple phrase "The LORD spake" is in the Scriptures 144 times, with most of those instances found in the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, and Joshua. GOD spoke multiple times to Moses and eventually also to Joshua, Moses' successor. Those were direct communications from the LORD HIMSELF for the specific purpose of leading the children of Israel, and they have become a part of GOD's written record -- the Bible. But the LORD's speaking did not end there. As GOD raised up the prophets, they, too, were HIS spokesmen and communicated with the authority of "Thus saith the LORD" (Isaiah 44:6). Additionally, the writer of the book of Hebrews unequivocally proclaimed that not only had GOD in times past spoken by the prophets but also by HIS SON, the LORD JESUS CHRIST (Hebrews 1:1-2 pictured above). Clearly, GOD has a message that is of paramount importance to mankind, and HE has given it to us through these various means in order that we might know and rightly respond to HIM.
Indeed, the Bible, in its entirety, is the result of divine inspiration, as noted by Paul: "All Scritpture is given by inspiration of GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (2nd.Timothy 3:16 pictured above). Peter, in his second epistle, records that holy men of GOD spoke as they were moved (borne along) by the HOLY SPIRIT; thus, what they wrote was and is the very WORD of GOD (2nd.Peter 1:21). If the LORD had not spoken to Moses, to the prophets, and through HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST, then we would be left with no way of knowing WHO and WHAT GOD is. Oh, let us thank GOD for the revelation of HIMSELF through HIS WORDs so clearly spoken. JED
