"JESUS CHRIST Is . . . Series Part 2 of 8"

Hebrews 5:9 & 12:2 "And being made perfect, HE became the AUTHOR of eternal salvation unto all them that obey HIM; . . . Looking unto JESUS the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith; WHO for the joy that was set before HIM endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of GOD."
The AUTHOR of eternal salvation - Everlasting life is not an invention of man; therefore, the way to obtain true salvation cannot be established by the will or dictates of man. In John 17:3, JESUS describes eternal life as a personal relationship with HIMSELF and with GOD the FATHER. Since CHRIST is "the AUTHOR of eternal salvation" (Hebrews 5:9), then it is utterly impossible for man to do anything of his own accord to gain or merit a relationship with GOD. Notice the condition given in our text: JESUS is "the AUTHOR of eternal salvation unto all them that obey HIM" (Hebrews 5:9). Today, millions of people are endeavoring to invent their own method of salvation and path to GOD (1st.Corinthians 1:18-21; 2:2-14). But clearly, only those who obey HIS command to believe in the person and work of the AUTHOR of eternal life "shall never die" (John 11:25-26 pictured above).
The AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith - In Hebrews 12:2, the inspired writer of Scripture elaborates on the AUTHOR of our salvation, describing HIM as "the AUTHOR and FINISHER of our faith." As believers, we can be confident that the very GOD WHO provides salvation will also complete that which HE has begun in us (Philippians 1:6). If, as finite creatures, we were able to supply our own salvation or merit a relationship with GOD, then our salvation and relationship with HIM would be uncertain because it would be contingent upon our own efforts. Thus, we could have no assurance of eternal life. But the mighty GOD WHOM we serve has authored a perfect salvation from start to finish. HE saves us, and HE will keep us saved for eternity. The AUTHOR of eternal salvation and the FINISHER of our faith guarantees that our future is secure (John 10:27-30 pictured above). MDC
