Acts 17:23 & John 1:1 "For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD, WHOM ye therefore ignorantly worship, HIM declare I unto you. . . .In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with GOD, and the WORD was GOD."
The Unknown GOD - We do not usually consider the fact that one of JESUS' names recorded in Scripture is "the Unknown GOD." However, in Acts 17:23, Paul told the religious unbelievers that he would declare to them the "Unknown GOD" WHOM they ignorantly worshiped, and then Paul defined this Unknown GOD as the resurrected LORD and CREATOR of all things - JESUS CHRIST (Acts 17:24-31). Today, billions of people do not know CHRIST; HE truly is the Unknown GOD. HE has manifested HIMSELF to mankind through HIS creation and through man's conscience, but salvation requires a personal relationship with HIM by faith in the person and work of JESUS CHRIST as made clear in HIS special revelation, the Bible. Sadly, many who have heard the Gospel refuse to receive GOD's grace gift while countless others have not yet even heard the glorious, good news. Relatively few have entered the "straight. . .gate" that leads to life (Matthew 7:14); because our SAVIOR is unknown by the majority of mankind, like Paul, we need to make HIM known to this lost and dying world (Mark 16:15-16 pictured above).
The WORD of GOD - JESUS is the "WORD" (John 1:1), that is, the communication of GOD to man. As GOD manifest in the flesh, CHRIST "exegetes" the FATHER - HE reveals to man the ONE WHO has always existed from eternity past. No other person, religion, or good work can intercede between the FATHER and mankind. Only GOD the SON can communicate GOD to man and provide the means by which people can possess eternal life. This WORD WHO came to Earth to die as man's substitute is the very same WORD WHO will return to judge the world (Revelation 19:13 pictured above). Have you received the WORD ? MDC
Your servant in CHRIST,
Julie
